BEAS KUND
“In search of the source of river Beas”

PALCHAN-DHUNDI-BEAS KUND-PALCHAN-MANALI
DAY 1: PALCHAN-BAKKARTHACH( 6 HOURS)
Beas kund is the source of the river beas, although the main rivulet rising from the beaskund is called solannallah till it joins the stream flowing down from rohtang pass. The trek to beasknd is along the SolangNallah. From Palchan follow the gradual trail along Solangnullah , the trail heads to north west to Dhundi ( 2800 m), the trail passes through pine deodar fir and walnut forest and ascends gradually to Bakkarthach.Camp at the vast meadow with scattered boulders and the view of the surrounded peaks like Hanuman Tibba, Friendship etc.
DAY 2: BAKKARTHACH-BEAS KUND( 2 Hours )
After Bakkarthatch the trail continues on the right bank of SolangNallah and winds up to the ridge to the north before dropping down to beaskund (3,540m), there is a small lake at the edge of the ground. The terrain around beaskund suggests that the area was once filled with glaciers that have receded over the years. Beas Kund serves as the advance base camp to climb hanuman tibba (5,930m) ,Ladakhi peak, Shitidhar and Manali peak.
DAY 3: BEAS KUND-SOLANG NALLAH( 6 hours)
Trek back to SolangNallah by the same route. Return to Manali.
